It depends on the treatment. Medicare and major commercial insurers (Aetna, BCBS, Cigna, United, Humana) generally cover penile implant surgery when medical necessity is documented, and the office handles prior authorization for you. What happens at the first visit?
A private conversation and an examination. Dr. Gheiler reviews your history and medications, examines you, and explains which options fit your situation — plainly and without pressure. Most men leave the first visit with a clear plan.
Can I start with a virtual consultation?
Yes. Virtual consultations are available for out-of-area and international patients, in English or Spanish. Any testing or in-person examination that is needed is arranged around your schedule or travel.

Yes. Every implant and surgical procedure is performed by Dr. Gheiler personally — it is not delegated to a fellow or assistant surgeon. That is what 400+ procedures a year means in practice: your surgeon is the one doing the operation.
